Where We Shopped

In this episode we once again cross state lines to pop over to Huntsville, Alabama; better known as Rocket City. First off we hit Packard’s Antiques. It’s a lovely mall with a variety of vendors and styles. There was a great selection of blow molds but they were a bit on the pricey side. Caroline walked away with a glass eggplant for $5!
Firehouse Antiques & Collectibles was our next stop. This place was GINORMOUS. We particularly liked their glass selection. They also had some large and unique furniture pieces but sadly our house is full up!
Our absolute favorite stop of the trip was a Flucy Lucy Antique Market. Located right near Campus No. 805, this spot had it all! The purveyors had just got in a set of incredible swung vases and mentioned they could barely keep them in stock.

In the back of the shop is a secret entrance to a black light room that shows off all the uranium glass they have. I particularly enjoyed the vintage medical tools and other ghoulish goodies. This is a must stop place in Huntsville.
On her own Sammi dropped in at Railroad Station Antiques. This downtown antique store has some upscale European goodies mixed in with amazing depression glass and other tchotchkes.
Lastly, Sammi hit University Pickers where she managed to score two swung vases, one for each of us. This place is in an old school and the architecture is as much a treat as the antiques.
Where to Drink

Inner Space Brewing is a treat with their space themed beers and décor. Straight to Ale, a Huntsville staple, serves food and house made beers in their large space in Campus No. 805, a former school.
If you find yourself downtown you need to stop in at Green Bus Brewing. A patio boasts live music occasionally and the proximity to restaurants and the local putt putt course through town is delightful. The Co-Op Brewery at Stovehouse is also great.
If you feel more inclined to a cocktail, stop in at Phat Sammy’s Tiki Bar. The drinks are strong but well worth it. So be it if you have to walk off the booze at Big Spring Park.
Where to Eat Nearby

Ol Heidelberg Cafe is one of two local restaurants that showcases the German community that settled during the Space Race. Enjoy authentic dishes like schnitzel and European wines and beer. The reuben is delicious.
Revivalist has an incredible menu of seasonal dishes and craft cocktails. The lobster mac and cheese and chicken with gnocchi were delicious.
– Don’t let the strip mall location of Viet Huong fool you. There’s frequently a wait at the cozy and authentic Vietnamese restaurant, but they turn tables quickly. Pho, bun cha, and clay pot chicken are all on offer.
Other Places to Shop

Harrison Brothers Hardware dates back to 1894 and still has its original cash register. Today you’ll also find plenty of local gifts, books, and artwork.
Set in a former mill, Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment now has shops, restaurants, offices, and artist studios. On weekends, they host live music and food trucks as well as seasonal festivals and events.
Unclaimed Baggage deserves its own video entirely, but the Scottsboro store is a sprawling site stocked with items from missing airline luggage including clothing, electronics, and art.
