Tips for the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market

While not as well known as other markets like Scott’s Antiques, Lakewood 400 Antiques Market is actually one of our favorites! Located in Cumming, Georgia, the space holds monthly markets with vendors both inside the sprawling space and outside.

The market has been going on for over 20 years, originally located at Lakewood in Atlanta, which is now the EUE Screen Gems film studio. The founder worked for the state’s economic development division that created incentives for the movies.

Tips for Visiting Lakewood 400 Market

Coffee break

Start your day early as the market opens at 9 am on Friday and Saturday and 10 am on Sunday. If you’re driving in from Atlanta, it will take around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Bring cash. It’s $3 to enter, which you’ll pay upon entering the parking lot and is good for the entire weekend. You can also get $1 off with a coupon on the website. You’ll also want cash to give vendors, although there’s also an ATM inside, but expect to be charged fees.

Start outside. It can get hot outside, especially during spring and summer, so you’ll want to look there first. Here you’re more likely to find a deal as these vendors don’t have to pay as much for booths. I found a cheap antique bed and vintage door here.

Take your time. You never know what you might find! During my visit, I found lamps made from old tins, Coca-Cola glasses with the logo in Japanese, and items from Georgia’s many filming projects. And if you think you might go back and get something later, it might be gone!

What to Eat Nearby

The market has a snack bar and a restaurant, as well as the occasional coffee cart, but if you want a real meal, you’ll have to leave the grounds. Thankfully there are plenty of great options nearby.

Fagan’s Biscuit Barn has Southern-style breakfasts and a drive thru to grab on the go. Erawan Thai offers authentic Thai fare. Hen Mother Cookhouse in neighboring Johns Creek has incredible brunch dishes.

Where to Stay Nearby

It’s an easy drive from Atlanta, but the Hilton Alpharetta / Atlanta offers discounts for shoppers if you want to be even closer. If you’re traveling with an RV, there is also camping at the Lakewood 400 Event Center.
